We are a family-run homestead born from a shared passion for the land and a vision of creating a sanctuary where the modern world slows down. As a mother-daughter duo—bolstered by the unwavering support of a hardworking husband and fueled by the energy of four children—we’ve combined our unique strengths to build more than just a farm. We’ve built a place for connection, education, and discovery.

From the West Coast to the Natural State

We had known about the beauty of Arkansas for years, but there comes a moment when you have to decide between dreaming of a life and actually living it. Ready to leave the hustle and bustle of California behind, we decided to take the leap into the unknown to create the life of our dreams.

The moment we set foot in Tumbling Shoals, we knew we had finally found home. There is a specific kind of magic here in the Arkansas air—a rhythm of the seasons that called us to trade the fast lane for the farm life. We didn't just move here; we planted our hearts here. Today, we are proud to be part of the Arkansas Agritourism community, preserving the beauty of our little slice of heaven. We aren't just building a farm; we are building a legacy and a gathering place for our neighbors.

A Family-Powered Homestead

Our farm thrives because it is a true family ecosystem. Every member of our household plays a vital role in bringing this land to life:

• The Plant Whisperer (The Mother): I am all about the soil, the seeds, and the seasons. My passion lies in our Seasonal Flower U-Pick and the nutrient-dense rows of our vegetable garden. Because we believe in leaving the land better than we found it, we strictly follow pesticide-free and chemical-free growing standards as well as Regenerative Gardening Practices—such as no-till methods, composting and cover cropping—to build living soil that is healthy for the earth and the families who eat from it. When you pick a tomato or a zinnia at The Shoals, you can trust it was grown in harmony with nature, not against it.

• The Animal Guru (The Daughter): She is the heartbeat of our livestock programs. From our prized Silver Appleyard Ducks to our rare heritage poultry, she ensures our animals live their best lives. You’ll also find her tending to her "fancy flock" and beautiful California Red Sheep—a nod to our roots and a testament to her eye for unique, high-quality breeds. But her contribution goes beyond the barnyard; she brings the whimsy and magic to the farm. From hand-painted bee hives and vibrant murals to the creative, artsy touches found in every corner of the homestead, she ensures that The Shoals isn't just a farm, but a living work of art.

• The Foundation (The Husband): Behind every fence post, repaired coop, and meticulous cabin renovation is the steady hand of my husband. He is the backbone of the farm's infrastructure, ensuring that our vision has a solid place to stand and that our guests have a safe, beautiful environment to enjoy.

​

In truth, he is the reason we landed in Tumbling Shoals. Having been raised in Arkansas, he wanted his children to experience the same sense of community, safety, and groundedness that made him into the man he is today. He wanted them to fall in love with Greers Ferry Lake—the same waters that defined his own childhood. Today, he is back where he belongs, surrounded by his family and the lifelong friendships that have endured through every season of life. His deep-rooted love for this land is what ensures that every guest who stays in our cabins feels that same sense of "coming home."

• The Soul of the Farm (The Next Generation): Our children and grandson don’t just live on the farm; they are its soul. They work and learn alongside us daily—collecting eggs, tending to seedlings, and discovering the wonders of nature in real-time. Watching the farm through their eyes—from the excitement of a new duckling to the pride of a successful harvest—is the primary reason we are so passionate about our nature programs for children. We aren't just teaching agriculture; we are witnessing the magic of childhood being rooted in the soil.
